In this post, you’ll learn how how to send & open a confidential email in Gmail. A confidential email is one where the recipient cannot forward, copy, print or download the contents of the email also a confidential email has an expiring date which means that after a selected date from expiration, the recipient of the mail can’t open or view the email anymore.
This option is available in Google mail (Gmail) in both the PC and mobile versions. This post will show you how to send & open a confidential email using the PC version, the difference between the PC and mobile version is just the interface
STEPS TO SEND A CONFIDENTIAL EMAIL WITH GMAIL
- Open the Gmail compose area to compose your message, input the recipient’s email address, subject and message body as usual. Click on the “Confidential Mode” icon (with a locked key symbol) at the bottom of the compose message area
- In the confidential email settings area, set the expiration date of the email and also select if you want the email to have a passcode or not, if you select “SMS Passcode”, you’ll be required to input the phone number of the recipient – Note: The SMS passcode doesn’t work for some countries. after the settings click on “Save”.
HOW TO OPEN A CONFIDENTIAL EMAIL
If the email recipient is using Gmail, the recipient can open the email directly with the Gmail app but if the recipient doesn’t use Gmail, a secure link will be sent to the email where the recipient needs to open in order to view the mail.
